Full Moon December 2019

December’s Full Moon is an exalted Moon in Taurus, opposed by Sun and Mercury in Scorpio. Saturn and Venus are within degree in the next house, Sagittarius, suggesting there will trigger effects around loved ones.

At the time of Full Moon, an exalted Full Moon greets us in Taurus, earth sign and second house – under the influence of Mrigashira nakshatra, ruled by Mars. So an exalted Moon ruled by tamasic Mrigashira nakshatra. If you think this sounds like the fable of the Ant and the Grasshopper, you might be right. Mars has a tendency towards long periods of inactivity and then suddenly springing into action. As the Moon is the presiding deity of the mind, there could be signs of slothfulness around, yet springing into action to grab the bird in the hand, which is worth more than the two in the bush. The second house is a house of wealth, and we need to ground ourselves in what is our wealth and not be tempted to rest on our laurels, in face of an exalted Moon.

We observe Mars is in Libra (Tula), the 7th house. This is ruled by Venus – who is neutral to Mars, and vice-versa. Mars in Libra organises and negotiates harmony, settlements, agreements, allies, and mutual re-adjustment. In the nakshatra of Jupiter (Vishakha) we can see some diplomacy and alliance-building instincts at work at this time. It is also a time for re-adjustment of social balances, activities spent in social media. Just how much time do you spend on social media? How much of it is needful? Mars does not get into peer group pressure and certainly, Mars is no leader of sheep! Mars, with balanced masculinity in Libra, seeks a harmonious design: hence a good time to trim off the extra social media accounts and begin the electronic fast from too much screen time on social media.

Oh yes, Mars is good at fasting!

The Gayatri Mantra for Mars:

Sun is in late Scorpio, Pada 3 of Jyestha and not with a lot of strength. 8th house is said to be a trika house, a house of problems and troubles to the native. On the journey through Scorpio the Sun has seen Jupiter leave for its home in Sagittarius, Mercury arrive moving direct instead of retrograde, and Venus leave (somewhat quickly) for Sagittarius. While Mercury is conjunct the Sun, Mercury will behave like the Sun in Scorpio, and perhaps, both planets will be hinting at secrets, mysteries, and confidence in matters of secret knowledge. Mercury may also give intimations of hidden forays into forbidden liaisons and sexual activities. While these impulses and urges to action may float around in the recesses of the mind (a specialty of Scorpio) remember that Scorpio is owned by exploratory, competitive, sporting, penetrating, bloody Mars. You could well be found out and exposed so stick to your dharmic values! A word of comfort: Sri Yoga Vasishtha takes you on a journey to non-duality and realisation that all is Atma. Each and every time you say an inner “No!” to urges floating around in the recesses of the mind, you become stronger and proceed on your way toward self-realisation.

In Sagittarius, we have Saturn and Venus conjunct, Jupiter and Ketu. It is said (from time to time) that Jupiter+Venus+Ketu = Fake gurus or fake heroes. It is the nature of the sishya to test the guru before accepting the guru, and to keep in mind that the guru’s task is to take you to the self-effulgent light – and not to take your assets, your moneys, your fortunes. If we are in the habit of having a hero figure – in sport, at work, in a field of activity you are interested in – be prepared to be disillusioned – and look for the hard evidence. Saturn and Venus within degree of Sun in Scorpio, and some authorities suggest this betokens a trigger effect, and since this is 2 from Sun, the trigger effects might be loved ones misusing moneys or their wealth, your misusing your monies or wealth. Take care. We mentioned the birds in the bush earlier, an old English adage.

Full Moon Meditation

The Hierarchy have advised us that the times of the Full Moon are times when energy is magnified, and multiplied. Groups sitting together in meditation on peace, harmony, goodwill towards all have a manifold affect on the energies surrounding our planet when they do this on the Full Moon day. If it is not possible to do so on the actual day, then, we have been told, the day before or the day after will also serve as days of excellence in sending out positive harmony, peace and helpful energies to all places on our Earth.

Meditating on light can raise the level of light within the individual. Meditating on light for our home, Planet Earth, can raise the level of light in places where this is needed. For LIGHT can be, as you know when you turn on a light in a room it has different voltages in different countries – in some countries it is brighter – sometimes it is darker. In a way, the Light in each individual on this Earth is the same. Sometimes it is brighter and sometimes it is darker. Such meditation is always of help to others.

Black Hole Meditation

Question: How do I turn within?

Reply: Go inside in any given cell. Choose any one cell and concentrate on it.

Question: Can I take a cell in my knee, for instance?

Reply: Yes, cellular consciousness is one and the same in every cell of your body and Atmic consciousness is one and the same in every cell on earth. Visualise a schematic picture of the cell. Take an ellipse form, and realise that this ellipse is infinitesimally smaller than the one you visualise. Now visualise in the cell, space as you know it – the universe with all its stars and planets. Then visualise in that space an infinitely small point, turned upon itself.

Question: A sort of black hole?

Reply: Yes, a sort of black hole, but then one which gives energy. That is the Atma-point. Visualise the Atma-point in each cell as a reversed black hole – as the source of everything.

Comment: When I close my eyes and try it, I see a black sky with stars and one tiny point from which energy gushes up as a sort of fountain.

Reply: Go now to a cell of your throat.

Question: The space there is much lighter. It is as if the sun is shining there.

Reply: You have arrived at the throat-chakra. In essence each cell in itself is a power-station of energy. But in the chakras there is a large assembly of energies.

From now on do this exercise at the end of each morning and evening meditation. That is the way to unity. Try to do it as often as possible. You can do it more often if you feel like it. It is always possible; in any place, at any time, during any activity.

It is not about your knee though, or about your throat or any other body-part. It is about each individual cell, which is enormously magnified in order to visualise it, but which you know to be infinitesimally smaller.

You may also concentrate on the atoms in the cells. For what you really concentrate on is neither cell nor atom. You use these ideas as metaphors for what it is really about. It is really about the Atma, which is in every atom, in every cell, in every being. The Atma is the all-penetrating force which cannot be expressed in an earthly substance, but which gives existence to all that is.

rendition of Sagittarius A
For some time now experts believe there is a supermassive black hole situated at the center of our galaxy, called Sagittarius A. Currently, scientists have found more evidence about the black hole which they released in an announcement. Experts have used the Very Large Telescope (VLT) to watch for flares of infrared radiation from the disk of debris surrounding Sagittarius A (pronounced A-Star), which is good evidence that it is a supermassive black hole.
