Navagraha Ketu - God without head

A Puranic Chant for Ketu:

Kethum karala vadanam, chithra varnam, kireetinam,
Pranamami sada kethum, dwajaakaaram graheswaram.

I always salute Ketu, who has face filled with horror, Who is of multiple
colors, has a crown, Who is shaped like a flag and is the Lord of planets.

Chithra varna sira pathu, bhalam dhoomra samudhyuthi,
Pathu nethre pingalaksha, sruthi may raktha lochana.

Let the multicoloured one protect my head, Let my hair be protected by he
who produces smoke, Let my eyes be protected by one with reddish
brown eye, And let what I hear be protected by He who has red blood eyes.

Granam pathu swarnabha, schibukam simhikasutha,
Pathum cha kandam may Kethu, skandou pathu grahadhipa.

Let my smell be protected by him who shines like gold, Let my chin be
protected by the son of Simhika, Let my neck and feet be protected by
Ketu, And let the Lord of Planets protect my shoulder

Hasthou pathu sura sreshta, kukshim pathu maha graha,
Simhasana katim pathu, madhyam pathu mahasura.

Let my arms be protected by the chief of devas, Let the great planet
protect my belly, Let my hip be protected by he who sits on the
throne, And let the great asura protect my middle.

Ooru pathu maha seersho, januni may athi kopana,
Pathu padhou cha may kroora, sarvangam nara pingala.

Let my thighs be protected by the great head, Let my knees be protected
by him with great anger, Let my feet be protected by the cruel one, And let
all my parts of body be protected by the reddish brown God.

Ya idham kavacham divyam, sarva roga vinasanam,
Sarva shathru vinasam cha, dharanad vijayi bhaved.

This holy armour destroys all diseases, Destroys all enemies and,
Once worn will make you victorious.

Ithi Brahmanda Purane Kethu Kavacham sampoornam.
Thus ends the Armour of Ketu from Brahmanda Purana.

Mars, Agni and Karthikeya

Murugan

The Planet Mars – sometimes known in Vedic Astrology as Mangala or Kuja, is son of the Earth, and is a focus of energy or shakti of the Earth. Mars is said to be of a fiery nature, and has the Vedic fire god Agni as its ruling deity. The mythological tales of the Puranas gives the son of Lord Shiva, Karthikeya (also known as Skanda, Murugan, Subramaniam) as the deity behind Planet Mars. What then is the purpose of these deities and how do they contribute to the light and energies that emanate from Mars?

Navaratri – The Sun

Sol

Today is the first day of the Navaratri celebrations which are held for nine days (Nava Rathrulu). All festivals are meant to remind mankind that they should cultivate noble qualities by engaging themselves in activities beneficial to one’s own self and society. Sai Baba made reference to Navaratri and the Nine Planets:

As part of Navaratri celebrations, people worship different forms of divinity. You should develop sacred feelings and experience divinity. What is the inner meaning of Navaratri celebrations? These nine nights represent nine planets. Each planet has its own significance. However, these planets are not outside, they are within. If your feelings are impure and unsacred, the result also will be the same. You are responsible for the good and bad you think and experience.

As the nine nights represent the nine planets, we will be having a planetary celebration of Navaratri with an account of one of the planets for each of the nine nights. The first planet is The Sun. The colour for the first day of Navaratri is ORANGE, so we will write in Orange for this first day’s observance of Navaratri.

The Sun is called ‘Sol’ in many languages; its rays and energy are of a solar nature. It is not without coincidence the Sun, Sol, has the same name for Soul; the name is the same, the spelling is slightly different. The Sun in Vedic Astrology signifies the incarnating soul. It is said to represent the personality, the ego, the Self.

Balance: The Sun and the Male – Female principle

rising sun

The Sun – which reflects both the energy and nature of the Source of All Creation, reflects the masculine and feminine principles of this Source, Brahmam. Where there is Brahmam, there is Shakti. The Sun is the Atma, atmakaraka, Soul, Ego, the personality principle. It is ceaseless in its activities; it is dharmadevata, the Lord of Dharma – as the Sun is continuously following right conduct, dharma. There are many gifts that the Sun gives to life on Earth; it also reflects the Universal Law, as above, so below.

Reflections on Rahu Part III

Rahu - North Node of Moon

Om nakadwajaaya vidmahe padma hastaaya dheemahi tanno rahu prachodayat
Om nakadwajaaya vidmahe

padma hastaaya dheemahi

tanno rahu prachodayat

Considerations on the influence of Rahu

In these days of powerful cosmic forces being unleashed through our Sun, the amount of light flowing to the mind-body-spirit complex – the combining and recombining of light within our bodies and surrounding our soul as impressions and wishes, desires – self-discipline is a sine-qua-non, that which we cannot do without. The Human is the Hue-man filled with the various hues of light. How may we take up the influence of Rahu and apply it with wholesome, balanced self-discipline and bring order of the chaos as mankind learns more of its origins?

Solar New Year and 4th Dimension – Part 2

(This is Part Two of a letter to my friend, Gandhi. Gandhi is his nickname due his remarkable resemblance to the late Mahatma Gandhi. “Gandhi” lives in Puttaparthi, and asked me about the forthcoming Solar New Year. In the last post, I began with a general overview of the Sun’s dispersion of rays, and how this energy is being checked or throttled by Saturn and Rahu, and how the 4th Dimension energy continue to flow to us with checks and balances. )

Dear Gandhi,
you wrote to me and asked about the Solar New Year and what it might have in store for you. In my last letter, I explained how the Sun is vargottama in 14 divisions and what this means. There are checks and balances brought by Saturn and Rahu, and Mars is depleted, in combustion being so close to the Sun; Mars is weakened to the tune of 95% so there are changes in the way strength and force are used. Social networking, social relationships are in for a marked change due this combustion of Mars.

Solar New Year and the 4th Dimension

(This is a letter to my friend, Gandhi. Gandhi is his nickname due his remarkable resemblance to the late Mahatama Gandhi. Gandhi lives in Puttparthi, and asked me about the forthcoming Solar New Year. So I have cast a vedic chart (called kundali) and write to explain to him what the chart means – especially in the light of the new dimensions, the 4th dimension, of which Gandhi knows little.)

Truth, Conscience and The Sun

Human Values and Astrology
Value:Truth; Sub-value: Conscience
Planet (graha) The Sun

Vedic God Surya, known as The Sun

The Sun is the first Planet (although it is actually a star and the centre of our solar system). One is the number of unity and a prime number. Every planet is the centre of some radiating force or energy. These planetary radiations are absorbed by all the beings in the universe in proportion to their capacity. The planetary forces pass through them along the line of least resistance

In Vedic Astrology, The Sun is the karaka (disposer, energiser, motivator) of Truth and the Conscience within.
