Late afternoon I was out in the village doing my errands and walking along Gopuram Road—towards the Gopuram, actually, when the wooden doors opened and I could see right up into the Darshan Hall, right up, past the porch, and in fact, I reckoned that I could see the windows on the Interview Room! “Oh, the Gopuram Gate is open”, I thought. Seva Dals tumbled out onto the Main Road, and the crowds rushed past me to get up to the gate and take darshan. A police escort vehicle was waiting on the road outside the gate. (more…)

I am dismayed at the number of times the Earth Changes comes up in conversations with people here. Some people (long-time devotees, too!) tell me that certain cities will be under water, and that 75% of the people on the Earth will be “cleared out” so to speak. Then they ask me what I think of that. Sometimes I feel that the people who tell me are being smug and condescending towards certain places in the Middle East when they tell me these theories about the Earth Changes, the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012 and things like that.

I don’t think very much of it at all.

I think that such talk defeats the purpose of being called to Swami as a devotee. (more…)
