Preparations and rehearsals are in train for the Sports and Cultural Meet on Sunday. It would seem Swami is visiting daily, so I took the option of waiting for Car Darshan this morning.

Tara Puttaparthi Sathya

I keep on getting this feeling of change, here in Prashanti Nilayam.

Gone are the days of getting up at 5am and taking lines, and waiting to enter the darshan hall. The men’s lines go in at 7AM to a vast, empty darshan hall; some people throw their cushions down and go to breakfast in the Canteen and come back around 8.45; others just take a seat at the front and close their eyes. Change, Change, and no change…

Prashanti Nilayam Comments Off

It has been three and a half years since I was here last; many people tell me that. Puttaparthi changed in subtle ways. I look at devotees and villagers I have known for so many years and see how much people have aged. Makes me think about how much I have aged and the slow dimunition of hair on the top of my head, and how much of that is grey. I wonder, but. About change on the inside. After all, that is what it is all about. Transformation towards embodiment of that inherent divinity.

The ashram, you ask?

Images of a Journey

Prashanti Nilayam No Comments »

It was a peaceful journey, probably the most quiet and relaxing journey sans mindful issues all the way to Bangalore. Bangalore Airport is HUGE, cool and super efficient. It is light, airy, with lots of open space and your first introduction to India is in the queue to get out of the airport. Noisy.

I felt the real impact of the new airport was noticeable in that there was a continuous smooth exit from the airport onto National Highway 7, the road to Prashanthi Nilayam. Many snake bends and twists on and off the roadway and diverts due construction (its on in serious - the highway is going to be duplicated the entire length to Hyderabad) … about the only thing I recognised was that dip in the road before the turn off to Puttaparthi.  (more…)
