Adi Shankara Jayanti (birth anniversary) is observed on the 5th day during waxing of moon in the month of Vaisakha (April – May). It is the birth anniversary day of Adi Shankara. In 2021, the date of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti is May 17. Scholars differ regarding the period in which Adi Shankara lived but his birthday is celebrated annually on the same day – on the 5th day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) of Vaisakha.
