What is the victory of the Moon? Is the victory of the Moon that it is always cool, shining cool, calm light upon us? Is the victory of the Moon that it moves from the dark half to the bright half each month, the perpetual waning and waxing of the Moon itself? Is the victory of the Moon that it is ever steady on the course of dharma and renders evident the scripture, dharma rakshato rakshitaha? (Whoso follows and upholds dharma will receive the protection of dharma.)
Is the victory of the Moon that it is the presiding deity of the mind, and hence, related to the Atma, and hence, signifies the victory of Atma over all that is, the maya mould that mankind is immersed in when ideation, action and guna come into play? Is the victory of the Moon that it will unswervingly mould the mind so that men and women will ultimately attain their salvation, freedom from the cyle of birth-death-and-birth-again?
Is the victory of the Moon that you have a mind, that is informed by the intellect, which is nearest the Atma and has over 80% of its illumination informed by the Atma itself? Is the victory of the Moon that it lays the foundation of wisdom in the mind and allows this wisdom to emerge borne of reflection upon experience and contemplation of the goals of life?
Is the victory of the Moon that all our minds are different, and that each one of us follows a Gita sung especially for us by the Divine Itself so that we may follow the path of Truth in our lives, resonating with sathyam moolam jagat, giving evidence to scripture that Truth is the basis of the Universe?
“The Yoga you should practise is: watch the agitation in the mind as a witness, free yourself from resolutions and even decisions, for and against. Have your mind and its journeys always under control. Yoga is the parallel progress of the individual soul, the individual embodiment of the Atma, every step in tune with the Paramatma. The goal is the merger of both: then, all grief ends. He who steadily takes up yoga with faith and who is prodded on by unswerving renunciation (non-attachment) can certainly win victory.
“The Eternity thus gained has no place for the sense perceptions of sound, touch, form, taste and smell. It has neither beginning nor end. Man must gradually and steadily endeavour to acquire that victory. He must proceed progressively from the gross to the subtle, from the subtle to the causal, and from the causal level he must finally merge in the Prime Cause. That is to say, the spiritual journey has to be from Sthula to Sukshma, from Sukshma to the Kaarana and from the Kaarana level, one must merge in the Maha-Kaarana. This is the regular route. (Sutra Vahini Ch 38)
