Sant Kabir Jayanti is observed on the Purnima or full moon day in the month of Jyeshta (May – June) as per traditional calendar. In 2022, the date of Sant Kabir Jayanti is June 14. This month’s Full Moon is in a somewhat precarious position, gandanta, the boundary between water and fire signs. This occurrence frequently presents somewhat knotty problems.
Sant Kabir Jayanti is observed on the Purnima or full moon day in the month of Jyeshta (May – June) as per traditional calendar. In 2022, the date of Sant Kabir Jayanti is June 14. It is believed that Sant Kabir Das was born on this day. The birth anniversary of Sant Kabir is observed in India and around the world. Meetings, satsangs, and recital of Sant Kabir’s poems are held on the day.
Kabir was a weaver and mystic poet who lived in Benares for 120 years. He was an important influence on the Hindus and Muslims [then called Mohammedans] of his time and also a profound influence on Nanaka Shah (Guru Nanak), the founder of the Sikh religion. Many poems of Kabir can be found in the Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred scriptures that form the Guru of Sikhism.
The basic religious principles Kabir espoused were simple. According to Kabir, all life is an interplay of two spiritual principles. One is the personal soul (Jivatma) and the other is God (Paramatma). It is Kabir’s view that salvation is the process of bringing into union these two divine principles. Like Gnyaneshwara (Dyaneshwar, or Jnanadeva) before him, like Guru Nanak and Sai Baba of Shirdi, who were to follow, Kabir strove for the One Truth. He described himself as the son of both Ram and Allah.
The June Full Moon
The June Full Moon takes place in Scorpio, at 29°:15′ of Jyestha nakshatra, the portion we call gandanta, the intra-personal knot that causes many an inner frustration and confusion. It is a place of intra-psychic conflict (think of energy fiercely grinding and producing sparks within) (which is where these vasanas belong: inside and not outside where they can cause harm (rikta) to others, family in particular).
Looking at the Full Moon chart, we have lagna in Makara (Capricorn), and Saturn retrograde in the 2nd house. Saturn is also sandhi, retrograding through the borders of two signs, Aquarius and Capricorn. Normally this area depletes a planet of energy; in this instance Saturn is in its Moolatrikona sign, so still giving off quite the energy, shadbala. However, this full Moon escapes the glance (drishti) of Saturn.
In the third house we have Jupiter and Mars; Jupiter is in dignity in its own sign; Mars and Jupiter are friends, so a comfortable transit for Mars. The only planet Jupiter is aspecting is Moon. The only planet Mars is aspecting lies within the 10th house, where Ketu resides, Libra. Kuja vat Ketu is the rule, Ketu behaves like Mars. With aspects from Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Rahu, Ketu is being pulled in many different directions, experiencing quite the distraction from its customary solitude and deep inner reflection. It does not help Ketu that it is in an air sign, subjected to gusty winds.
In the fourth house we have Venus and Rahu in the sign of Mars – Aries. Venus and Mars are neutral each to the other, whereas Rahu is inimical toward Mars. Both Venus and Rahu aspect Ketu in Libra.
In the 5th house we have Mercury and Sun. In a most unusual situation, Mercury is not combust the Sun, as Sun is sandhi at 29°15′ of Taurus, and Mercury resides far away at 06°25′ of Taurus.
This is an interesting Sun, it is Atma karaka, the soul significator in a fixed, earthy sign, Taurus. Sun in the fifth house gives attention to children (think of the narrative of Lord Surya to Chhaya about her disrespect for his son Shani), is a giver of dhi (intelligence) of a fixed, grounded nature. Common sense – along with spiritual common sense – need a strong grounding in the reality of life and remitting perspectives of wisdom grounded in experience. This is what this Sun – although sandi – is giving out at this time. On the other hand, Mercury is moving forward from its recent retrograde station, and whereas Mercury is fleet footed and quick with intelligence and information (and whatever else is on the radar), is thriving here with communications behaviours, such as media production, conversations and messaging.
We have spoken of Ketu in the 10th house with so many aspects.
The Moon is in Scorpio, and at 29 15′ of Scorpio is nominally debilitated (Moon’s debilitation is 0-3 degrees of Scorpio) and at the gandanta location (the place of knots and blockages and inner psychic friction). The experience of Moon here in Scorpio is one of duality: materialism v. spirituality. Here, the Moon seeks to unblock the spiritual knots – keeping in mind that Scorpio is a FIXED sign – it is a challenge to detach and unhook from materialism, desires and attachments. Great strength is needed to master these things that finally bring us unhappiness and dissatisfaction. The ego always wants more.
The Moon in the gandanta location is a place where the limits of mental capacity may be encountered – particularly with occult practices. Ditto inter-dimensional travel where many souls have been lost. Spiritual discipline and spiritual practices are not occult practices. These are matters that lift the adherent, the devotee beyond the mundane world of illusion and separation into the experience of being conscious awareness. A journey to awareness of Self.
The other issue of Moon in this location is that it can bring its challenges to stick the knife into other people. We learn the road to sathyam-sivam-sundaram is to speak softly, speak sweetly. Desist from emotionally cutting sharply worded messages and dissecting and analysis of people in your personal ambit: it is not dharmic to invade other people’s personal spaces under the guise of healing, helping, counselling. Better to Love All, Serve all and keep quiet (as Swami used to say in darshan) at these times. Your wealth is your self control.
We will finish with a glance at the Navamsa chart for this Full Moon: for those in their senior years.
Sun is in the first house (Virgo) in Hasta nakshatra: the place of bestowing blessings and grace, always a good place for the Sun. Gives people a good feeling of SUNSHINE, here. Next door, Saturn is exalted and retrograde in the second house along with Jupiter: they are both in Rahu’s Swati nakshatra. The second house is wealth, and swati nakshatra represents wealth among the purusharthas. In this instance the wealth is that of Love, for Venus is friends with Saturn and abides Jupiter well. The pathway toward the end of life (the vibrations given off in this particular sign) may be paved with love; you can make it your intention for the capacity (Jaimani pada) is strong, strong, strong. Consider.
Next in the Navamsa is Venus – Lord of the 2nd house in the 3rd sign, upholding the value of community networking: Venus likes to set goals and achieve them. So, while Venus has a preference for friendly, gainful relationships, the community dimension extends to diplomatic and justice networks. In our senior years, we can be quite clear and determined in communication and be heard (softly, sweetly) over the top of the waffle.
We have Mars in the 5th house – Capricorn, getting the rough end of the stick from Saturn; however, Sun comes to the rescue as Mars is in Uttara Ashada, nakshatra of the Sun. More sunshine for the warrior. Mercury is next in Aquarius, the 6th house, Purva bhadrapada, nakshatra of Jupiter. Saturn regards Mercury as friend, so a comfortable transit. In the 6th – the house of service, Mercury is radiating spiritual and philosophical notions and goals: such goals are achieved slow and steady with the aid of Saturn. Steadiness is what the Lord looks for in devotees.
The Full Moon in this Navamsa is in Pisces: this is the 7th house where all our relations are: meaning family, our friends, business, acquaintances, community relations, and it is here we show our face to the world. This Full Moon seeks to give out messages of tolerance, global humanism, inspiration and somewhat inclined toward being the philosopher. Due the Main Chart having Moon gandanta, there is some effect to the Navamsa location Moon being 4th Pada of the Scorpio Moon. There may be some feeling of insecurity at this time. Treat it like passing clouds and keep the significations of Saturn and Jupiter (2nd house) in mind at this time. This is Jupiter’s sign!
You may listen to this meditation from Cosmic Sai Baba:
We just see ourselves – we are all joined together – in one circle of light; and raising our consciousness, letting our eyes roll back in our heads a little, so that you imagine you are looking outside the atmosphere of Earth, into the Universe. Don’t force your eyes too much, just enough so that you feel you are looking outwards and up.
And we are joining the world of Light; the Universal Light; the Source of All Creation. And we ask the Angels to be with us, to assist us. They are always with us, but now we are connecting to them in a conscious way.
We feel the light coming down now – from the apex of a pyramid – going through the top of our head, filling our head with light, and our neck, and shoulders, and arms, and hands … and our chest, the back, our waist … and our stomach, and our buttocks, and our thighs. And the light coming further down to the knees, the shins and the calves, and to the ankles and the feet; the soles of the feet and the toes. And feel it swirling around, going out and then returning back to the world of light, so that we feel that we are sitting in a cosmic egg of light.
And keep seeing that movement – like a river – coming down from the world of light, down past our body, out through the feet, and back up to the world of light – forming an egg shape of light around us. We feel ease and peace … very light … very happy.
So we realise that it is this place – that we can connect to our soul consciousness – that is held by our Angelic self, the Angel that’s always with us, with everyone; through our soul. We are all part of God; we are all God-beings; we are all part of Creation.
So feel happy … and released from pain; and feel joy and upliftment; because we know this is our true self, this is who we really are. This is the consciousness that is within us … that is constantly assisting us – in some very small way – or rather strong way; sometimes with a sound, or a voice, or an image. And if it sounds like a voice, it may be a thought we think but it is actually coming from our soul consciousness.
Our soul consciousness is always for good, so it is the God consciousness that’s within us that is constantly trying to guide us in our lives, in a physical body. For without the soul there would be no life in the physical body (or not for very long). It does operate independently – but it is together that we walk … on this Earth … with Love of God with us always.
And sometimes we feel the consciousness advising us, not really realising if it comes from the soul consciousness. But we know it is something that doesn’t seem like a good idea. And so we re-think what way or what steps we should be taking in life. But then, if we ignore it, we look back and think, “I wished I had taken notice; I knew, I just knew, I had that feeling in me, that wasn’t a good decision.”
And sometimes a voice can be quite strong. And we know its not – if we really tune into it – it is not us – its not our own soul voice. It is coming from somebody else that’s in the ether and trying to cause mischief. And for this reason, we need to be aware of where the messages that we hear, or the thoughts that we hear, are coming from.
It is very simple really. The thoughts that come from the soul consciousness, are of God; they are of love; they never want to hurt anybody. They only want to assist, and uplift; to give and share the light of love from the Universe. Anything else … … does not belong. And so we can reject that. And it is very easy to sort out, if you feel happy, and contented and relaxed.
It is important that you spend time to relax … and sit … and meditate. And connect to the soul consciousness who we are now, and making it a habit. Maybe once a day … for a little time … until you feel uplifted and rested. It comes through the the top of your head and into your heart. And it is your heart that holds the feeling. It is the feeling that is most important … in all of your life … in all of your emotions … in all of your thoughts … and in all your actions … if you feel good about it … it is coming directly from the Source of All. It is your home. It is who you really are.
So be blessed and know you are always blessed. And feel happy and filled with joy … even though the road may be difficult at times. You know when you look back … if you are honest with yourself, you really have learned a lot from what was a very difficult time.
So be at peace,
be at peace,
be at peace
