In the Jagannatha Temple at Puri, in one of the prakaras stands an Idol of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The Idol has four arms, resembling Krishna’s four-armed divine Form, That was the vision which Sri Chaitanya once vouchsafed to Vasudev Sarvabhauma, the Pundit-in-chief of the Royal Court at Puri, revealing his real identity with Lord Krishna, the Jagannath, which means the Lord of the Jagat, the Lord of the whole world and universe. Such indeed was the spiritual stature which Gauranga (Chaitanya) had attained. He had attained total identity with Lord Sri Krishna. That was why Sri Chaitanya is adored and referred to as “Mahaprabhu – the great great Lord”.
