Considerations on the influence of Rahu

In these days of powerful cosmic forces being unleashed through our Sun, the amount of light flowing to the mind-body-spirit complex - the combining and recombining of light within our bodies and surrounding our soul as impressions and wishes, desires - self-discipline is a sine-qua-non, that which we cannot do without. The Human is the Hue-man filled with the various hues of light. How may we take up the influence of Rahu and apply it with wholesome, balanced self-discipline and bring order of the chaos as mankind learns more of its origins?

From the Summer Solstice of 2012 - (allegedly the end of the Mayan Calendar and ... according to some ... the end of the world) new energies are being sent to our galaxy and being released through our Sun to our own solar system. There is external evidence of this, with the Sun now releasing X class solar flares - recently as four in 24 hours. You can also read about this on NASA's website.

So we see that the Sun is demonstrating its affect on our Planet, and release of energy to our solar system also affects the reflection of light by the planets, and further transformed by the North Node, Rahu, or the South Node, Ketu. So personal transformation and taking up what is offered by Rahu in this time the advent of the Fourth Dimension (for this generation of humans) requires the practice of personal self discipline. This is utterly necessary due perception is bound to inner reality and Maya if one does not take up the influences of Rahu in a proper manner.

From our examination of the significations of Rahu, we know that Rahu is a shadow planet, and in mythology one filled with cunning and determination to obtain the nectar of immortality. That Rahu did, and paid the price. As one of the two nodes, Rahu's movement through the astrology chart is backward in motion (retrograde). On account of Sani vat Rahu, Rahu is understood to give the results of Planet Saturn, with whom Rahu is friends with. Rahu is also friends with Mercury and Ketu; neutral to Guru - Jupiter and the Moon (bedimmed) and is enemies with Venus, Mars and the Sun (where Rahu causes solar eclipses).

Rahu is of vata dosha (constitution in the body); vata is wind, airy, and so has influence on the mind. Sources indicate the influences of Rahu on the mind are frequently living a life of inner creations of the mind, in older English patois - romancing - in its original meaning of creating worlds and realities within. Rahu's influence on the mind frequently surfaces as illusion, hallucination and over-use of imagination to form reality, where balance and common-sense would test reality against what is created within. As Rahu is a natural malefic, inner creations of the mind and ego tend to have negative colouration and nature.

It is said that Rahu and Ketu form the celestial army (BHPS). Rahu pushes back the frontiers while Ketu maintains the home territories. This is the positive side of Rahu. An army does drill, repetition endlessly until the skill becomes automatic and second habit. That is all for a purpose - to ensure instant response and to create constant alertness, awareness. However, the influence of Rahu on the mind can lead to one to rely on inner-world creations to a point of debility, where a person is out of touch with reality. This is where the positive side of Rahu with self-discipline - particularly discipline of the mind - may be cultivated to good effect to create a common-sense balance between interactions with the outer world with utilisation of the buddhi, intellect and take up of a well disciplined mind.

The key to this is discipline of the mind. Rahu can produce unsteady minds caught up in their own creations, and Rahu also produces warriors who bring order out of chaos, due the practice of internal discipline. Here we see what is in the Vedas is entirely appropriate, there can be no progress without adherence to discipline. We need to guide the mind with the intellect, formed by the conscience within.

Via a gradual guidance of the mind by the intellect, one establishes a regime of successful mind-management, and is able to develop concentration. Concentration brings success to any activity mankind engages in. Steady focus of the mind on activity with full concentration always brings completion and success to that activity. Coupled with self-discipline, the five human values of truth, love, peace, right conduct and non-violence can be applied to the influence of Rahu on the mind.

Action, whether done with the external organs of action (karmendriyas - the motor organs, physical actions) or the inner organs of action (jnanendriayas - internal senses of perception or knowledge, the five senses, the ego, the mind, the intellect), is always based on choices. Choices are guided by our values, what we determine as good for us to have, do, be, acquire, feel, be recognised for, like this. Where Rahu comes into the picture with the five human values is the ends to which we apply our inner action of the mind: where we stretch our inner capacity, delve deeper into the inner creations, and take up immersion in inner realities. The intellect must be integrated with the works of Rahu. This world is reaction, reflection, resound of what is within the human person. The planets have a major role with the placements and effects of light within; the mitigation of light by the shadow planets (chhaya grahas) Rahu and Ketu need to be brought into the light of day and tested against the intellect, common sense and the five human values.

We understand Rahu is the celestial army tasked with pushing back boundaries to new experiences, new territory, new domains, new conquests. Like any army, moving forward, taking up the action, moving into a theatre of action relies on self-discipline. Where self- discipline of an army corps, its members, the body, the organisation of its units into a united force is not present, then there can be chaos, disorder, destruction, loss, defeat. The enemy remains to be fought again another day. That same principle applies to an undisciplined mind. The enemy within must be faced again. Self discipline must be won again and again for the mind to be the servant of man and not the master of man.

The benefit of applying discipline of the mind to the influence of Rahu is to bring order out of chaos. Rahu is disposer - karaka - of chaos, particularly inner chaos of the mind; recall, Rahu is vata - airy in nature and gives the same effects as Saturn. These are affects on the mind. Pushing back inner boundaries, delving deeper into to discover new creations requires self-discipline which comes by taking up the intellect and applying the guidance of the intellect to the mind and its outward - and in the case of the influence of Rahu - the inward going nature. A well-disciplined mind moving into a theatre of action will apply the five human values of truth, love, peace, right conduct and non-violence.

We may take up the influence of Rahu and apply it under self-discipline and bring order of the chaos of new boundaries, new discoveries about the history of the human race, the breaking of cherished cultural beliefs as mankind learns more of its origins, and the take-up of the energies of the Fourth Dimension.

As the new cosmic energies carrying the return of the Fourth Dimension pour forth from the Sun to the Earth, its ecosystems, and to all forms of life on the Earth, we may, with the self-awareness, self discipline and a well-guided mind, take up the new frontiers of discovery of life in the Fourth Dimension, with the aid of Rahu and its influence on our minds. Rahu may produce warriors, ever ready, ever-disciplined, ever holding the spear to defend and to pierce the light-energies and push forward to new realms of what it means to be human in the Fourth Dimension.

Visions, memories of life in other dimensions and other time-lines may become our own reality. The science-fiction movie skylines are the skylines of some nations on Earth today. These experiences may cause much concern in many people, and for some, distress at unexplained phenomena and unknown material seemingly arising with from nowhere. To balance the influence of Rahu in your life, a disciplined imagination, applying concentration and the intellect to what is experienced on the inner level is important. Good guidance always points out "first, common sense, then spiritual sense, then fit your inner discipline to the situation".

The level of satisfaction in our lives is due the level of our efforts. The planets may raise us up or pull us down. The fruits of a disciplined mind and self-discipline allow us to take up the positive aspects of the energies of Rahu during this time of the uptake of the 4th and 5th Dimensions. Without self discipline, without self awareness, then the influence of Rahu may resolve to creating illusion, fantasy, daydream, delusion and unfounded fears.
